Upgrading And Refining Items Guide

Refining = Upgrading your armor, and weapons. if you look at a weapon or clothing item you’ll see it has a grade

Definition: Refining increases the stats of an item. It will not increase bolded bonus stats, set stat bonuses or gem stats.

For weapons. Refining increases the following.
- weapons attack power.
- weapons accuracy.

For armor it increases the following.
- defense
- magic defense
- dodge rate

How to refine:
The only 3 things needed to get started on refining are the following.
- Item you want to increase

- Zuly to pay for the service
- Bind/Talisman/Apotrope of the same grade number as the item.

This is what you're looking for, although each grade of "Bind"-"Tali"-"Apo" will have diff color, and image depending if its a Armor, Back or Weapon rune.

Where to refine:
Most major planet cities and some smaller ones offer this service at the Weapon Smith NPC
Speak to one of the Refining NPCs -- only they have the power to refine an item. Click the option to 'Refine an item' or 'Upgrade an item'

Simply request to upgrade your item. The refine User Interface will open.
- first drag and drop the item you wish to refine into the window.
- next drag the bind/talisman/apotrope corresponding to the item.

A % success rate will now show at the bottom of the window displaying your odds of successfully refining the item.

"How do I increase the % to succeed?"
By adding catalyst to the window your chances of a successful refine will improve. The following is a list of catas.

"Is there any other way to increase % to succeed?"
Yes. By adding runes from the item mall your chances are even higher. Up to 20% even.

"Is any NPC better to refine with?"
That's entirely based on speculation, some player emotionally feel that one NPC will provide better results then another, in the end the game is coded to have each Smith NPC be exactly the same as far as odds go for a successful refine.

"Will I break my item if I fail?"
No, recently it was changed so failures will never break an item. You can however degrade your item based on items Grade and Current refine. A notification window will appear displaying that "Upon failure the item will degrade 1 refine level." and then give you the option to continue or cancel

Raw % means nothing but the Item and Required stone to refine. No Item Mall Runes or Catalyst have been added.

"Can I prevent the item from Degrading?"
Yes! If you possess a pluto rune, and use it as an item -during- the attempt that failed, the rune will prevent the item from losing a refine.

Refine System Changes
Grades 1-5 upon failure will degrade 1 (Plutorune will prevent degrade 1)
Grades 6-10 upon failure will break (Plutorune will prevent Break, but item will degrade 1)
Grades 11-15 upon failure will degrade 2 (Plutorune will prevent degrade by 1)
Item Mall items only
Grades 1-5 upon failure will not be altered
Grades 6-10 upon failure will degrade 1 (Plutorune will prevent degrade by 1)
Grades 11-15 upon failure will degrade 2 (Plutorune will prevent degrade by 1)

* Refine levels have been extended to grade level 15, with bonuses that well exceed the old level 9 bonuses.

* New refine Catalyst items (Chemicals) are now available.
Refine System
* Catalyst items can be used to influence the success rates of refining.
* An indication display of the success chances for a refine has been added to the refine menu.
* Each refine will require 1 Rune (Bindrune/Talisman/Apotrope) & at least 1 Catalyst
* Catalyst Items will add to the success rate during any refine (up to 20 of the same Catalyst can be used during any single refine attempt)
* Venarune will yield 5% to a refine attempt (up to 2 of Venarunes can be used during any single refine attempt)
* Plutorune will protect based on the below chart (only 1 Plutorune can be used during any single refine attempt)
* Neptarune will protect based on the same Plutorune chart below and offer an additional 5% to the success rate
* The Refine UI will now show the % success rate the refine will have
In the main towns you can refine
We have 1st 2nd 3rd 4th 5th 6th 7th and 8th grade talismans, currently in-game.
The same goes for Bindrunes. As said above, there is not a 9th grade.
Note: Face items cannot be refined.

Satarunes (for Item Mall items): Some Item Mall items can also be refined with Satarunes which are also bought in the Item Mall, the only difference with those, is that they do not break they just fail
Venarunes a 10% success addition to your item.

The Pyramid of Fate (QUEST TABLET)

Orlo is the fourth planet and a must visit to every individual out there. A lot of new things and very innovative quests to discover.

An old, almost forgotten culture is waiting for you!

BEFORE YOU START:

1) Make sure you've done the Fate Quest and have chosen either Arua or Hebarn as your Fate. You will not be able to pass Part 6 of the Quest until you do.
2) Be level 180 or higher.
3) Being in a party helps for Part 8, but isn't necessary.
4) Check after every step of the way to make sure you completed that step before moving on...

The Pyramid of Fate:

To start your journey you have to find out about the pyramid of fate. Historian Jones wants you to collect all five pieces of fate. In order to achieve those you need to find out about the five ancient families. Jones who is located at City of Junon Polis can be a great help deciphering the tablets so lets go find these ancient artifacts.

The Pyramid of Fate:

1. Tablet of Annoymous

If you do not have the tablet yet, it can be found at Oblivion Temple B2 from Mummies or Scavengers. Visit Jones at Junons harbour and talk with him about the ancient tablet of the anonymous. You will get the following quest: Heirs of the anonymous.

Heirs of the anonymous (1): Jones don't want to talk about the ancient family. Only someone who was dead would dare to mention that name. Hey a dead person? Whats better than looking at the desert of the dead. You will find Lantore to talk with.

Heirs of the anonymous (2): Lantore told you that only someone who can talk to the gods like Goddess Arua could tell you more. Wait did he say Goddess Arua? Arua's fairy? Lets go visit her.
Bingo. She tells you everything. The anonymous cannot be named because they are not only from one family. The anonymous are Arua's chosen, the first visitors to protect the ancient families like you and me!

Heirs of the anonymous (3): With these news go and talk to Jones again. You will get one piece of fate. You can find it at the "The Pyramid of Fate" quest.

2. Tablet of Krisdados

If you do not have the tablet yet, it can be found at slags just out of magic city of the eucar.
Visit Jones at Junons harbour and talk with him about the ancient tablet of krisdados. You will get the following quest: krisdados' cold heart.

Krisdados' cold heart (1): Jones wants you to visit Akram Ambassador Eliot in Luna. He is located at /go 4.

Krisdados' cold heart (2): Eliot told you that 2 descendants of Krisdados are still alive and he did send you to Pabel. He is located upstairs and tells you everything about the family.

Krisdados' cold heart (3): Go and talk to Jones again. You will get one piece of fate. You can find it at the "The Pyramid of Fate" quest.

3. Tablet of Khan

If you do not have the tablet yet, it can be found at moldies outside of the city of junon polis.
Visit Jones at Junons harbour and talk with him about the ancient tablet of khan. You will get the following quest: khan vs. char.

Khan vs. char (1): Jones wants you to visit Raknu Warrior Jeffrey Lloyd at Eldon. He is just located next to the warp area at /go 5.

Khan vs. char (2): Jeffrey refers you to Darka Khan the Raknu Chief high above the trees. Talk to him to find out more about the Khans.

Khan vs. char (3): Namiel Char is your next stop. She is the Sikuku Chief and will give you some other information.

Khan vs. char (4): Go and talk to Jones again. You will get one piece of fate. You can find it at the "The Pyramid of Fate" quest.

4. Tablet of Madreson

If you do not have the tablet yet, it can be found at the desert of the dead.
Visit Jones at Junons harbour and talk with him about the ancient tablet of madreson. You will get the following quest: mourning for madreson.

Mourning for Madreson (1): Jones wants you to visit Shroon. She is located at Anima Lake. Just type /go 3 and head northway

Mourning for Madreson (2): Shroon told you about her sister Orias living at the El Verloon Desert. Type /go 2 and head northway across the bridge. Then head rightwards. In the south of Oblivion Temple is a camp where you can find her.

Mourning for Madreson (3): Next task is to talk with Methio. He will give the final information you need to have.

Mourning for Madreson (4): Go and talk to Jones again. You will get one piece of fate. You can find it at the "The Pyramid of Fate" quest.

5. Tablet of Landreign

If you do not have the tablet yet, it can be found at gold mine goblin workers located at Goblin Cave B2.
Visit Jones at Junons harbour and talk with him about the ancient tablet of madreson. You will get the following quest: landregin's daughters.

Landregin's daughters (1): Jones wants you to visit Arumic Researcher Lutis. He is located at the tower in Valley of Luxem Tower. You can't miss it when you type /go 2 and run south.

andregin's daughters (2): Lutis told you to talk to Karitte. She is a Cleric and is standing right next to him. She will tell you abit about her family especially her sister.

Landregin's daughters (3): Karitte told you to visit her sister Harin. She is the barmaid in the city of junon polis. She tells you to get started thinking of a choice between Arua or Hebarn.

Landregin's daughters (4): Go and talk to Jones again. You will get one piece of fate. You can find it at the "The Pyramid of Fate" quest.
